Open Space in Open Space

How many visitors are too many? The scenic area of Karawanks served as a classroom, as participants of the program “Management of Protected Areas” performed an open space session on visitors´ management. Together with some 80 experts from South Eastern Europe and Austria principles and tools were discussed intensively.

An efficient management of visitors´ flows, services and infrastructures is a crucial task in protected areas. Participants discussed, how to find a good balance between experiencing and preserving nature.

The session was one out of 43 lectures of the program “Management of Protected Aras” of the Klagenfurt University. The unique educational offer shall enhance personal competences of young professionals. It is conducted by international trainers and lecturers.
