Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Dear colleagues and friends,

This year passed quickly, and many of us are still busy struggling to finalise manifold tasks on time. We hope that you will be able to calm down soon, and enjoy some quiet and peaceful moments during the Christmas holidays. We are wishing you and your loved ones health, happiness and prosperity in the coming New Year - MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Before leaving for the holidays, we would like to call your attention to the 5th Klagenfurt Days of Protected Areas, which will take place from 20th to 22nd February 2014 in Klagenfurt. Meanwhile, these “days” have become an international meeting point for managers, planners, consulters and researchers working in and with protected areas. A variety of meetings, conferences and events will take place in different locations.

On the first day (Thursday), various conferences will be hold in parallel, with topics ranging from tourism in protected areas to nature conservation in cities and ecological connectivity. In the evening, there will be a big come together of all participants with keynote speeches, a presentation of the workshop results, and a delicious buffet. The next day (Friday) is reserved for the presentations of the graduates of the MPA Programme who will defend their theses in front of an international audience. On the last day (Saturday), the days will be finished with an excursion to the Natura 2000 site Lendspitz-Maiernigg at the border of Lake Wörthersee where participants will be able to watch waterbirds wintering on the lake.
