EUROPARC opens new library on protected area management
The EUROPARC Federation opened the new library on protected Area Management hosted at E.C.O. in Klagenfurt. EUROPARC Federation President Thomas Hansson and Director Carol Ritchie came to Klagenfurt to hand the library over to the students of the MSc programme “Management of Protected Areas”. The library encompasses more than 2000 publications on protected area management.
The opening of the library is the result of a long-term cooperation between the Master-of-Science programme “Management of Protected Areas” in Klagenfurt University and the EUROPARC Federation. Collected for over 20 years, the new EUROPARC library presents one of the biggest collections of materials covering all aspects of protected area management and is available for researchers, students and anyone with an interest in discovering how nature conservation and sustainable development is managed.
Thomas Hansson and Carol Ritchie stated: “EUROPARC Federation is proud to support the programme and we see this as an investment in the future of protected area management in Europe”. Professor Dr. H.-J. Bodenhöfer and Michael Jungmeier, the directors of the MSc programme, confirmed: “We are delighted to host this valuable resource that is now available to our programme and to give this important library a new lease of life”.
