Official Presentation of the MSc - programme in Klagenfurt

“Shaping a sustainable future on the bases of professional know-how”. The director of the University of Klagenfurt, Prof. Guenther Hoedel, presented the new course of studies in April. The University has a research focus on Middle and Eastern Europe and is prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century. “We need well educated and highly motivated personalities to conserve, manage and develop the natural as well cultural heritage of the continent.” For the Vice-Governor of Carinthia, Dr. Martin Strutz, the programme represents the “possibilities to combine professional knowhow in sustainable development with new technologies and adavanced approaches in public management”.

 “We are very proud that our idea has been able to attract international partners. So, for example, institutions like IUCN/WCPA, Europarc, WWF-international, Network of Alpine Protected Areas, MaB-Programme, Ramsar-Convention or Pan-Parks agreed upon contributing to the programme. The programme will focus on up-to-date approaches of integrated management of Protected Areas”, said the scientific executives of the programme, Mag. Michael Jungmeier and Prof. Michael Getzner.

“The demand in participating in the programme is much higher than we expected”. The programme specifically intents to attract participants from Middle and Eastern Europe. Therefor information days are provided:
