The Spreading of an Idea: Positive Feedback to the Infodays
In May and June the MPA–Team has organised and organises information days in Budapest, Clusj (RO), Montecatini (IT), Hannover, Ljubljana, Praha, Vienna and Warsaw. The days are managed by the MPA–National Contact Points in order to promote the programme and to provide possibilities for discussion the diverse issues personally. “These infodays demonstrate a high interest in participation. The positive feedback to our efforts is encouraging”, says Michael Jungmeier of the Scientific Executive Board.
The discussion focuses on technical issues, specifically on diverse possibilities to financially support participants (scholarships, national institutions, projects, international grants). Potential participants appreciate the structure of the modules and the fact that they take place in different Protected Areas in Middle and Eastern Europe. “So we get a very practical insight into different problems and solutions,” said one discussant.
International Embedding: 2nd Meeting of the Advisory Board
“The international Advisory Board is happy to find the programme well prepared and on a high level of technical and didactic quality.” This is the conclusion drawn by Peter Rupitsch, head of the Advisory Board and Director of the Hohe Tauern National Park (AT) after the 2nd meeting of the Advisory Board in Klagenfurt on June 4th. Nevertheless, members of the Advisory Board brought in a lot of experience and new aspects to the final preparation of the programme.
“The fruitful cooperation between the University of Klagenfurt and institutions like IUCN, Ramsar-Convention, Europarc, WWF international or PanParks, to name only a few, is a substantial pillar in developing this programme”. So participants will have access to international expertise as well as to a network of international partners and contacts.
