“Prepare your application now”
The next turn of the MSc. Programme “Management of Protected Areas”, launched by the University of Klagenfurt, will start in September 2007. “We already have very interesting applications,” says Prof. Michael Getzner, director of the programme. “But there is time to apply until the end of June”.
The “outstanding educational offer” is addressed to (future) planners, managers and consulters of protected areas. It is presented by highly recognised lecturers and embedded in an international network of excellence. “For our participants, we provide a curriculum that is well balanced between professional skills, theoretical principles and practical experiences”, says Getzner.

“I learned a lot for my job”!
Christine Klenovec is participant of the Msc.programme. Since October 2006 she has managed the development of the Nature Park “Weissbach” in Salzburg / Austria. In a small interview she reflects her experiences.
- Christine, what is your job? The Nature Park “Weissbach” was planned in an exemplary participatory process. Now I am responsible to establish and manage the park.
- What is the challenge? I have to reach many different people and get them in the boat. We shall make things go. The park shall be “opened” in summer.
- Skills and knowledge of the MSc-programme, can you make use of them? Definitely yes! My education was very helpful when I applied for the job. In my every days life I have a sufficient overview of relevant topics and I am connected to a network of experience.
- Thanks and all the best.
