Join us at the 5th Klagenfurt Days of Protected Areas
Dear colleagues and friends,
we would like to call your attention to the "5th Klagenfurt Days of Protected Areas", an international "come together" for managers, planners, consulters, and researchers working in and with protected areas. So we invite YOU to join us from 20 to 21 February 2014 in Klagenfurt and participate in some of our interesting activities:
After an official welcome at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt on Thursday morning, you may choose amongst two different conferences: You can either participate in a seminar on "Protected areas and tourism – How to successfully promote nature conservation" (organised by the Netzwerk Land; in German language; more information and application here) or in a conference on "Ecological connectivity" which includes an excursion to the bear bridge in Dobratsch Nature Park / Schütt (organised by the Alumni Club of the MPA Programme; in English language; more information in the conference folder). Both events will start at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. In case you are particularly interested in insects you may also join a meeting on butterflies of Dobratsch Nature Park in the afternoon (from 1 to 5 p.m.). In the evening, there will be a big celebration with all participants at the University with keynote speeches, a presentation of the workshop results, and a delicious buffet. The second day, Friday, is reserved for the presentations of the graduates of the MPA Programme who will defend their theses in front of an international audience. The topics of their research studies range from management planning efforts in Brazil, Malaysia, Ukraine, and Austria, to communication processes in Albania and Romania, and new financing approaches in Croatia, Nepal, and Austria. Your critical questions and technical inputs will be highly appreciated by our graduates.
We take advantage of the international come together to provide an interesting insight into our E.C.O. activities. You are kindly invited to read about our mission, our corporate history, our staff members, partners and clients in the "E.C.O. Yearbook – Nature Conservation in the 21 Century" which is now available for download in English language. Join us on a journey to areas such as southern Armenia, Ethiopia, Nepal and, naturally Austria, where we implemented different projects in the fields of protected areas management, nature conservation, regional development, as well as environmental education and training. Feel free to distribute the yearbook (which is also available in German laguage) to people who might be interested in our activities.
