Biosphere Reserves in the Ukrainian Carpathians
The two biosphere reserves in the Ukrainian Carpathians are located in a unique natural area which contains the last of the original great beech forests of Europe. These biosphere parks are to be given a boost as part of the WWF’s Danube Carpathian Programme. Training sessions and development programmes for administrative bodies and the region are being offered, and awareness education and cross border co-operation between Poland, Romania and Slovakia are being encouraged. Within an international team of experts E.C.O. is responsible for technology transfer, communications and organisational development.
